trying to not get too down. . . but the bad news keeps on coming. . .
saturday - second degree burn on foot.
monday - found out leatha died.
yesterday - governator is now talking about a TWO DAY monthly unpaid furlough for all state employees lasting through july 2010 (the one day a month mentioned a month ago was depressing enough!). you're talking about $2500 less take home a year for me.
also yesterday - majel barrett roddenberry died of leukemia.
last night - band aid took off part of the skin covering my blister.
today - foot hurts like hell and i'm limping. hopefully neosporin keeps me infection free.
also today - wolf was told his last day will be december 31.
trying to focus on the positive. . . .
i was wearing a sock when i spilled the boiling water on my foot. lucky for me, or i would have experienced my first personal ER visit.
leatha died in her sleep. peacefully. if it's going to happen, that's the best way to go IMO.
i have a union that will fight that bastard. and as
ersigh reminded me, thankfully he cannot run for president.
i was lucky enough to have met majel at jimmy doohan's farewell convention. and i have a signed figure and photo. and she recorded the computer voice for the new movie already.
lucky for me i had neosporin and one large gauze pad handy.
at least wolf got some sort of notice, and they're offering a good reference.
now if i could get this stupid beyonce song out of my head i could get through the rest of the day.

after much searching, i found my wedding ring on saturday. it was totally nothing like what i thought i wanted, but when i put it on it just felt right. it's kind of a plain band with three diamonds in the center. because the economy sucks, they were having a crazy sale, and i got a $712 ring for $327! the funny part is, i dragged my poor mother around to 10 jewelry stores saturday morning, and i found my ring at another store after dropping her off at her luncheon. as a thank you, i bought her an opal and chrome diopside pendant and am giving it to her at lunch today.
speaking of mommy, her surgery is scheduled for april 18th. it is indeed a tumah, but it is about 1/3 the size of a pea. that's still pretty large for that area. to get to it, they will have to remove the back half of 2-4 neck bones and not put them back, which is kinda weird. this whole thing is really rare unless preceeded by major trauma, so that's also kinda weird. we're praying the surgery will go smoothly and also that the nerve damage (ie: arm pain) won't be permanent.

a week or two ago my parents found a kitty wandering around a creekbed, in the middle of the woods, crying for someone to rescue him. mommy and litter-mates were nowhere to be seen, so my parents took him home and he's stolen their hearts.

He got out okay but the whole building and everything in it is pretty much destroyed. Please pray for everyone involved.

tomorrow i get to go with mom to the doctor to see if she needs to get her other hip replaced. whoopie.
had my follow up appointment for my worker's comp thing yesterday. wait, did i mention all that in here? dequervains tendonitis? nerve flossing issues? yeah. . . it sucks. she added carpal tunnel to that list yesterday but thinks that my main issue is the tendonitis and muscle strain/sprain/etc and that the nerve issue and carpal tunnel is a byproduct. now if only that made it hurt less. . .

in prep for this trip to arkansas, i reminded my mother to bring my grandmother's address so we can plug it into my GPS. that's when she tells me that my grandmother doesn't have an address. the last time the parents visited her, they got to sulphur springs and asked at a restaurant if anyone knew where she lived. gee, small town much? so i asked my uncle for the nearest cross street. he told me she doesn't actually live in a town but rather just over the state line along the highway between noel, missouri and sulphur springs, arkansas. oh and apparently there are several different towns named sulphur springs in arkansas. also there has been flooding in several areas between her place and the airport. the roads were finally passable yesterday, but thunderstorms are still listed on weather.com. oh and did i mention it's in the 80's? something tells me this is going to be a fun trip!
